Wildlife Observation
Quebec's large spaces abound with exceptional terrestrial and marine wildlife. Moose, white-tail deer, numerous bird species and whales of the St. Lawrence River are awaiting you in all their splendour in the national parks and wildlife preserves.
Caribou is a spectacular animal that mainly lives in the Nunavik region. Overall, more than 1 million caribous live in this northern Quebec herd. On the other hand, it is possible to observe this splendid animal in the parc national des Grands-Jardins in Charlevoix, or in the réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs in Gaspésie. In fact, those two parks have a taiga environment that is favourable to the establishment of a caribou herd.
Numerous regional parks offer facilities to observe birds everywhere in the province. The beginner or professional bird watchers can observe white geese at the Cap Tourmente when the geese stop over in the spring or fall, or you can go to the Île Bonaventure in Gaspésie to observe a huge Northern Gannet colony.
During your next outdoor adventure in a park, wildlife preserve or in Quebec's nature, make sure you bring binoculars for a better and closer look at these animals in their natural habitat.
