Properties & Gardens
Most of Quebec regions that are located along the St. Lawrence River have known the seigniorial regime. This is why today visitors can still see the beautiful houses and large estates, as well as sumptuous gardens with indigenous and local flowers and plants in every region.
Some estates have kept their ancient look and invite you to go on a guided tour of the property, during which you will learn more about life back in those days. This is the case of the Domains seigneurial Sainte-Anne in the Mauricie region, or the Domaine MacKenzie King in Outaouais, among others. Some estates, on the other hand, invite you to simply take advantage of their large green spaces to do hiking or to have a picnic with your family.
The gardens, for their part, are really beautiful and that, whatever the region you visit. The Grands Jardins de Normandin, among other, in Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean, or the Jardins de Métis in Gaspésie, or the Jardins Chénier Sauvé in the Laurentides will leave you breathless. In those gardens, you can see combinations of indigenous and imported plants, as well as repicas of English gardens. Visit those estates and gardens and bring back beautiful souvenirs.
