National Parks
Quebec's national parks network is well established and well distributed on the territory, from Abitibi-Témiscamingue to Manicouagan to the Eastern Townships. These parks allow visitors to live a typical Quebec nature experince, whatever the region visited. The national parks have an abundant and diversified wildlife and fauna that is easy to observe from designated paths. Depending on the region you visit and the time of the year, you might see moose, caribous, squirrels, marmots and lynx.
A large variety of activities can be done in the parks, like hiking, which you can do in every park of the province. In the summer, the most popular activities are fishing, biking and water activities like swimming, canoeing and kayaking. In the winter, snow allows visitors to do snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and even alpine skiing.
Some parks offer unique activities, like the parc national Saguenay, where you can go on a cruise on the fjord or do sailing, or in the parc national de l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé, where you can try snorkelling, or in the parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie, where you can ride on the river in a river boat.
Visit also the most popular national parks, like the parc national de la Gaspésie, or that of th Jacques-Cartier, but you should also visit the less-known parks, which have suffered less from human impact, like the parc national d'Aiguebelle or the parc national d'Anticosti.
Each one of these parks have a large number of services, where you can get information about the different activities offered or the different types of lodging available. The lodging types can range from summer camping, rustic or with services, to the private cottages, or the refuges and winter camping. You can now choose your level of adventure!
