Theatres
In Quebec, theatre has become more and more important throughout the years. New theatre schools were born, just like new theatre halls where plays are presented. You can choose among the Capitole de Québec, the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde in Montréal, or the Théâtre du Vieux-Terrebonne in Lanaudière. These large halls present large-scale plays. Other theatres, smaller in size, present plays with fewer actors, but that are as good as the larger-scale plays.
For a dozen years now, summer theatres have known a great popularity increase. These theatres located in the suburbs of large cities present lightweight and often humorous plays. These plays are normally intended for a large audience and are offered at affordable prices. Among the summer theatres, you will find the Théâtre d'été de l'Auberge de la Pointe in Rivière-du-Loup, the Théâtre Beaumont - Saint-Michel in Bellechasse, or the Théâtre des Grands Chênes in Drummondville.
You need to take note that most of the plays are presented in French, thus not accessible to a unilingual English audience. So make sure you get all the right information before you plan your evening at the theatre.
