 The main cities in Quebec, like Québec, Montréal, Trois-Rivières and Gatineau for example, offer guided tours to allow you to learn about the history of the city you visit. Numerous companies offer guided tour services, among which some offer out of the ordinary tours, like a visit of the haunted places, or the visit of places once inhabited by famous historical people. The most popular guided tours are of course the walking tours, since they allow you to see the city in all its details, and to see the attractions for up close.
For a more traditional visit, choose a horse-drawn carriage guided tour. The Québec and Montréal coachmen will tell you the story of these cities, while you, comfortably seated in the carriage, can see the city like the inhabitants used to see it 300 years ago.
Recently, most of the large cities have started to offer taxi guided tours. Apart from praising its city, the driver will tell you detailed stories about the city, and sometimes will even tell spicy ones about famous people from the past and present! The advantage with a taxi guided tour is that it can take you outside the town centre and make you discover other aspects of the city that you would not see during a walking tour.
