Especially renowned for its numerous ski resorts, the Laurentides region proposes you other ways to have fun in winter. These events, and sometimes these festivals, can well be visited between two ski or snowboard runs! Below is a list of some villages and cities of the Laurentides that you should visit to discover some great activities intended to your entire family.
Let’s start with the 24h of Tremblant. From December 7 to 9, come participate in this festival or encourage skiers who, for one day and one night, will ski down the trails in order to gather money for a good cause. The atmosphere is completely electrifying, and music can be heard everywhere. On another subject, from December 13 to 16, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts proposes you its Marché de Noël (Christmas Market). You can take advantage of this event to buy some last minute Christmas presents among the handicraft products made with talent or the tasty regional products. Finally, the inhabitants of Val-David invite you to attend the Santa Claus Parade on December 16.
After the Holiday Commotion
January is more peaceful in the Laurentides region, but we nonetheless found some interesting festivals for you. How would you like to go pick some apples in an orchard? In fact, in Saint-Joseph-de-Lac, you can attend the Fête hivernale des Vergers Lafrance (Vergers Lafrance winter festival). For two weekends, you can come here and pick frozen apples in the trees to make ice cider. Here are the dates: January 12-13 and 19-20, 2008. We are waiting for you! Back in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, we invite you to be part of the people who attend the Hiver en Nord from January 21 to March 12. You will be able to skate on the lake, participate in the special activities and observe the snow sculptures and fireworks.
As for February, it is very busy. You will have the choice among hockey, dog sledding and many other activities in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard from February 1st to 10, 2008, during the Festival des 3 saisons – plaisirs d’hiver (three-seasons festival – winter pleasure). Still in Saint-Adolphe, hockey fans are invited to encourage young players during the Tournoi provincial de hockey Marcel-Brunet Atome/Pee-Wee. This event is also presented from February 1st to 10, 2008. Finally, in the Saint-Sauveur Valley, more precisely in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, the 7e Classique Internationale Rona Dagenais – course de chiens de traîneau (7th Rona Dagenais International classical dog sledding race) awaits you. On February 16 and 17, come encourage the dogs and their mushers, who, of course, are trying to win the race.
Before Preparing for the Next Season
March is a synonym for spring skiing and mild temperatures. It also marks the end of Hiver en Nord in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts. People start preparing for the spring season, for the awakening of nature and for the animals who have slept all winter to wake up. One of these days, we will tell you about the activities that take place during the rest of the year in the Laurentides region. For now, you can plan a getaway with your loved one or with your children. Put on your coats and have fun! |
