 In Dunham, along the Eastern Townships Wine Road, you will find the Domaine de la Chevrottière. This ancient domain now shelters a flock of Nubian goats, which, in good or bad weather, produces the milk necessary to make the products developed by the owners of the Domaine. Here, everything is home-made. You can discover a complete range of soft products for the skin like soap bars and a body milk. This would surely make Cleopatra and her taster green with envy…
The benefits of goat’s milk have been demonstrated more than a thousand years ago. Well before Christ, important women used this ingredient to moisturize and soften their skins. Who doesn’t remember the famous act in Asterix and Cleopatra where the latter takes a bath in an immense basin full of this milky substance, while her taster samples a piece of soap to make sure his queen doesn’t poison herself? Still to this day, goat’s milk is ideal for sensitive and allergenic skins. As for soap bars, the Domaine has no less than 17 kinds, all made with essential oils and natural herbs. The soap is therefore softer to the touch and to the skin, but also nice to look at and to smell.  In addition, the Domaine de la Chevrottière proposes honey-based products. “La Grande Miellée” is the name given to these pure wildflower honey delicacies that will certainly make you salivate. Also, the beeswax-based cosmetic products will, among other things, soften your lips. Nothing is better than a lip balm to ease chapped lips. Speaking of softening, the natural massage oils are renowned to nourish and moisturize the skin, but they also help heal light wounds. These natural products, also available at the Domaine, are often made with avocado oil, grape seeds and even emus.
The Domaine also has a mini-farm, of which the main tenants are Haflinger horses, Asian deer and miniature horses. Not far from there, you can have access to the owners’ maple grove. And a maple grove always comes with maple products… Hmm! Here, you can of course buy maple syrup and taffy, but also jellies and pure caramels. Crossing the maple grove, a few walking paths allow you to enjoy fresh air.
All the products offered at the Domaine are home-made. The natural and essential oils added to the soap bars or in the massage oils almost all have relaxing, preventive and curative properties. As for the more sugary and edible products, they are a pleasure for your palate, but also for your stomach… So don’t hesitate and take the road to the Eastern Townships to Dunham, at the Domaine de la Chevrottière. |
