In Quebec, there are a large variety of events and festivals, from the international-scales festivals to the less-known regional events. Everyone, though, are worth mentioning, since in Quebec, everything is an occasion to celebrate. You will surely recognize the Festival international d'été de Québec, the Festival du cinéma international in Abitibi-Témiscamingue or the Festival de l'oie blanche in Montmagny. On the other hand, the Festival international Contes en Île in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the Festival Mémoire et Racines in Lanaudière or the Fête Bières et Saveurs in Monérégie may not ring a bell. They are yours to discover!
Some festivals draw people from many countries. Among them are the Festival western de Saint-Tite in the Mauricie region, the Festival international de Jazz de Montréal or the Carnaval de Québec. Don't miss the numerous important events like the Salon du livre in Québec and in Montréal, or the Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivières.
Soon, Québec City will celebrate its 400th anniversary. In fact, it was on July 3rd 1608 that Samuel de Champlain officially founded Québec City. To celebrate this important anniversary, the celebration will start on December 31st 2007 and end in October 2008. Numerous events, conventions, festivals and entertainment will be put in place for the visitors to keep an eternal souvenir of their visit in Québec.
